Available Walks

The desire to walk can be fulfilled through wonderful paths offering breathtaking landscape views.
Walk from Isola to Roccalberti
After a few steps, you cross the "Fosso Delle Lame" ("Canale Agneta" / Agneta Water Course) which flows into the Edron River.
Along these watercourses, it is possible to spot the Goat Willow plant ("Salix caprea"), locally known as "Salicone". Its branches, called "vette", were traditionally used to create baskets, "canestri", and chairs.
This plant differs from the "Vetrice" (osier), which grows exclusively along watercourses and yields flexible wicker branches, whereas the Goat Willow thrives everywhere.

Along the way, near a fork
, you will find a small shrine ("maestaina" / mestaina) dedicated to "La Madonna della Tosse" (Madonna of the Cough), situated along a path once used for traditional religious processions ("rogazioni"). Here we are in "Le Vigne" ("The Vineyards").
Shortly after, on the left side along the ophiolitic rocky slopes (not clearly visible from the route map
), lies the ruin of a metato tied to an ancient legend (The legend of figs).
On the right, just below the Upaola locality and in the distance, you can see the village of Poggio nestled at the foot of the hill of La Capriola.

Taking a slight left and climbing a bit, the view opens up widely. From here you can clearly admire the mountain of Pania di Corfino
.
Passing the Roccalberti cemetery and a few vineyards, continue for about two hundred meters along the paved road to reach Roccalberti.
Walk from Isola to Poggio

Take the road leading to the Edron River and cross it using the wooden footbridge we built.
Walk past an old, abandoned fish hatchery. Further along, the path forks: taking the right path leads you back to the asphalt road.
Continue to the left to walk along a stretch of the historic Via Vandelli, still renowned today for its unique stone-paved structure.
Arriving at Poggio a 'Nupaola, continue for another three hundred meters until you hit the paved road; a short climb brings you directly into Poggio.
Walk from Isola to Ferriera

There are two options depending on your preference:
- By car: Take the connector road leading to the main road (from Poggio to Vagli). Cross the bridge, take the dirt road on the right after two bends, and descend a few meters to reach Ferriera.
- On foot: Follow a small trail located just before the Edron River bridge among abandoned houses. After a few steps, at the crossroads, turn left to reach the location on the opposite side of the bridge.
Walk from Isola to Vagli Dam and Careggine
Head back to the main road (connecting Poggio and Vagli) and head towards Vagli. After 700 meters, turn left onto a recently paved secondary road.
Continue for another 1500 meters to reach the Vagli Dam, walking along the opposite side of the road leading to Vagli.
Proceeding further for 300 meters, you will reach the village of Vergaia. From there, the road continues toward Careggine (accessible on foot or by SUV in about 40 minutes).

Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the lake and the Apuan Alps
.
Walk from Isola to Puglianella
Just before the Edron River bridge, take a small path winding between the abandoned houses. After a few steps at the crossroads, turn right. Following this route for about 20 minutes will bring you to Puglianella.
